“Is it possible for home to be a person and not a place?”

Home Is truly a living creature who breathes, feeds, rests, sleeps, cries, laughs, lives and dies. Home Is hopes, Home Is dreams, Home Is to stay and leave.

-REVIEWS UP TODAY-

"The house is told here as a refuge, as a protection but also as a lifelong companion, as a place of memory almost as if it were a living being whom to share a whole life together with. The pandemic has also made us rediscover how important an affinity is between our personality and the place where we decide to live, an affinity that is clearly proportional to the quality of our days. Lorenzo Bracaloni, tireless promoter of the Fallen project, always close to intimate sounds and at the same time light and sweet, dedicates the new album entitled “Home Is”, to the house lived as a lifelong companion. Having landed on the Dutch label Shimmering Moods Records, after having released albums together with the most important labels in the ambient scene, Bracaloni confirms himself capable, after choosing the reference object, of recreating ethereal atmospheres with piano and synth. The most significant songs are "If Memories Were Scents", on the theme of the memory perhaps of the house where childhood was spent, "Velvet Horizon" with vague references to a bucolic Mike Oldfield, and the title track closest to electronics contemporary ambient. However, if I were to think of a song that could become a starting point for a new phase of Bracaloni's career, I would not think of the aforementioned tracks - which in any case continue on a path that the Fallen project has been pursuing for years - but I would certainly think of the nine minutes of "Crystal", with its long, almost Basinskian loop and the change of register it imposes by making us reflect - through a strange breathlessness and a sense of anguish - on that subtle border that can exist between a refuge and a prison, an ambiguous feeling that pandemic has awakened in all of us." “Is it possible for home to be a person and not a place? (Stephanie Perkins) Home Is the latest release from Fallen or Lorenzo Bracaloni has been nicely timed, arriving at the end of a year when reflecting on what Home is has been something many have spent their time contemplating. Home is anywhere you are at any time or so they say, home is place within you that is your deepest energy, a place that makes you feel safe and nurtured. Home is also a place that can be returned to time after time, full of memories, loved ones or simply the things you treasure, that make you feel comforted, content and blessed. Home is whatever and wherever you are that sooths the soul. The quote from Stephanie Perkins poses the time old question of what exactly is home, which captured the imagination of acoustic composer Fallen. Translated into a beautiful flow, the work sets about trying to define what it is that makes Home somewhere very special, in a style that is softer, far more gentle than many of his previous works.
Gently drifting the eight track work slowly segues thought he ambient spectrum, delicate in places, sharply jarring, almost haunting in Others as the piece Oxygen and Skin reveals. Each of the pieces reflects on the many aspect of Home which are deeply personal.
As a work that floats and drifts, every so often the reminder is there that there is far more depth to Fallen’s compositions than just electronic soundwaves, as he either plays or has utilised Piano, Electric Piano, Organ, Synthesizers, Bass, Acoustic Guitars, Electric Guitars, Voice, Field Recordings and Found Objects to create Home Is. Home Is a delightfully different work and one that is best to simply allow to waft on the ether, allowing the mind and emotions to take you where they will, to discover just where Home Is." (Blue-Wolf Reviews, review by Janet Mawdesley, USA, January 2022: bluewolf-reviews.com/music/ambient-music/home-is/)

"Lorenzo Bracaloni who works under the moniker Fallen strikes again with his new album released by Shimmering Moods. It is a bit problematic (which is great actually) to classify Lorenzo's work. It is composed and produced with such and ease that you barely think of putting it into a certain file. First track "If memories were scents" sets the tone of the whole album - it is dreamy and atmospheric and in many ways hipnagogic - it has this dreamlike atmosphere that is undeniably his style. And yet there is something profoundly classical in it as well. "Velvet horizon" is a bit different as it has this guitar theme that is an introduction to something deeper that comes with the main synth theme. "Home is" brings a subtlety and nuance that is the core of this album. Both mysterious and sensual gives you an almost intimate insight into what is in artist's mind. Same with the next track "Oxygen and skin" - a study of almost microtonal sounds at the beginning that is broken by a melancholic and evocative theme.
In the whole course of the album, Lorenzo never strays away from his both tender and tight vision. It is easy to recognize his style where all the elements are balanced within equation - atmospheric drones, experimental ambience, classical themes and software processing that makes it feel nice to listen to. Looking forward to the next album." (Felthat Reviews, review by Hubert Heathertoes, December 2021, The Netherlands, felthatreviews.blogspot.com/2021/12/home-is-by-fallen.html#more)
